Braehead Clan’s final pre-season game ended in disappointment as Dundee Stars took the game in a 5-3 victory at Dundee Ice Arena.
Trevor Hendrikx got the scoring underway with a finish after five minutes, after being assisted by the newly arrived Matt Beca.
But Dundee soon tied things up when Vinny Scarsella scored his first for the club, with Cale Tanaka putting Marc LeFebvre’s men ahead shortly after.
Scott Pitt evened things up with 17 seconds of an entertaining first period that ended when Corey Cowick and former Clan D-man Craig Cescon got together for a fight.
Scott Aarssen put Braehead in front ahead again on a five-on-three powerplay in the second period as they looked to further impose themselves on their Gardiner Conference rivals.
But Tanaka scored another one shorthanded to level things off once again as this ‘friendly’ was getting more and more interesting.
Dundee edged in front before the second period break when Justin Faryna scored the go-ahead goal, with the assist from Scarsella.
Despite Clan trying to force open the Dundee door at the end, including pulling Gary Russell for the extra man, Stars tied up the game with an empty net finish by Cescon.
