Braehead Clan suffered a further Challenge Cup setback when Edinburgh Capitals took the points in a 3-2 victory.
Clan got themselves in front after 12 minutes when Corey Cowick took advantage of a powerplay as Edinburgh’s Jared Staal sat in the box for slashing.
Then Bari McKenzie doubled the lead 23 seconds later, reacting quickly to tuck away a rebound after the puck had escaped from Caps goalie Travis Fullerton.
The visitors pulled one back in the second period to kick start an impressive comeback as Mason Wilgosh escaped on a breakaway to finish Edinburgh’s first goal.
Lee Baldwin’s error allowed the Capitals to equalise as Jared Staal got in ahead of him to fire a low shot past Clan goalie Michal Zajkowski.
Taylor MacDougall added a third shortly after, getting some good fortune as his effort escaped from Zajkowski and crawled over the line to give Michal Dobron’s men a lead.
Clan pushed for an equaliser in the third period as Matt Beca tried one from blue line and Zach Sullivan went close with an effort, but it was the Caps who took the points again.
