6 - 3
Fife Flyers

Two goals from Scott Pitt helped Braehead Clan on their way to both league points as they got their double header weekend with Fife Flyers off to a great start.

Fife goalie Shane Owen was kept busy in the first period as he kept out Matt Keith, Jay Rosehill and Scott Pitt, who all tested him.

But it was Pitt that finally breached the Flyers defence when Matt Beca’s pass from the right was picked up by Clan’s #61, who despatched his shot in the net.

The home side doubled the lead early in the second as Alex Leavitt found space to bury a chance at the back post.

Then Daniel Åhsberg picked up his first goal of the campaign to make it 3-0 before Matt Haywood’s solo effort increased the lead to four.

Flyers pulled one back as Matt Sisca found space to squeeze it home, but Clan reopened the four-goal advantage as Mike Hammond took advantage of the loose puck.

Shayne Stockton fired one into the roof of Michal Zajkowski’s net to reduce the arrears to three heading into the third period.

Pitt finished his second to make it 6-2 and after a skirmish involving Kyle Haines and Scott Aarssen, Brendan Brooks added a late third for Fife.
