Braehead Clan ended up on the wrong side of defeat again as Belfast Giants took the two league points in a 3-2 victory.
Gary Russell was back between the pipes as Michal Zajkowski continued to miss out through injury, while Daniel Åhsberg and Trevor Hendrikx also had to sit out through illness.
It meant a return to action for Lee Esders, who was signed as injury cover, but despite the missing personnel, Braehead weren’t able to muster victory.
The home side got the opening goal of the night when Chris Higgins put the puck past Russell to, but a crazy two minutes towards the end of the opening period saw the game turn.
Jonathan Boxill had no sooner finished celebrating his goal that gave Belfast a 2-0 lead, then former Giant Craig Peacock scored 12 seconds later to pull one back.
Then Scott Pitt scored his eighth of the season to bring Braehead level with a minute to go of the first period.
Derrick Walser’s men restored their lead five minutes into the second period as James Desmarais finished from Matt Towe’s assist.
However there was no more scoring to be added as Giants held on for victory, leaving Ryan Finnerty and his men to reflect on another loss.
