Braehead Clan returned to action and got the best possible start to their four weeks of road games with a 5-2 victory over Manchester Storm.
After a weekend off last week, Clan took on a side hurting from a penalty shots loss to Dundee Stars the night before.
But there was no sympathy as Ryan Finnerty’s men got the opening goal as Kyle Wharton combined with Scott Pitt to finish low past Storm goalie Mike Clemente.
The home side levelled shortly after when Omar Pacha unleashed one from just inside the blue line to beat Clan netminder Gary Russell and equalise.
Matt Haywood restored the lead in the second period when he drove in from the inside left and beat Clemente to make it 2-1.
Braehead opened up a two-goal gap early in the third as Alex Leavitt’s low shot found its way in for his first of the night.
Then he added a fourth, jamming the puck under Clemente to effectively kill the game off as a contest as the travelling fans enjoyed their night.
Scott Pitt tucked in a fifth to put the game beyond any doubt when he got the last touch following a scramble in front of the crease.
Jay Rosehill and Dallas Ehrhardt dropped the gloves as frustration started to show from the home players.
They pulled one back in the final minutes through Cody Cartier amid controversial circumstances as Clan players questioned whether it crossed the line or not, but it stood.
In the end, a good road win as Braehead head to Coventry Blaze on Sunday to complete the first weekend of four on the road.
