Edinburgh Capitals
6 - 4

Braehead Clan ended their six-game run of games on the road as they went down 6-4 to Edinburgh Capitals at Murrayfield.

It was another closely fought encounter that went the distance as Clan were able to finally return to home ice, but unfortunately it was on the back of another loss.

Alex Leavitt opened the scoring after 12 minutes for the visitors as they looked to make an impression on the game.

However Pavel Vorobyev levelled for the Capitals barely a minute into the second period as Edinburgh struck.

Both sides tried to break each other down even more and it didn’t come until midway through the middle session when Scott Pitt restored Braehead’s lead.

Karel Hromas picked up another equaliser for the home side minutes later then Ian Schultz turned the game around to fire the Caps into the lead for the first time.

Their lead lasted only a minute when Craig Peacock tied the game at three as he picked up his third goal of the weekend.

Vorobyev’s second of the night put Edinburgh in front again with the destination of the points as unclear as they’d been all evening.

Then he completed his hat-trick with three minutes to go as the pendulum swung in Edinburgh’s direction in the dying embers.

Braehead weren’t beaten yet as Mike Hammond struck 16 seconds later to set up a grandstand finish, but Vorobyev’s last second empty net finish clinched the points for the Caps in the end.
