Braehead Clan’s homecoming didn’t quite go as planned as Dundee Stars came to Glasgow and took the points, winning 6-4 in the end.
The home side suffered a less than ideal start when Kevin Hart swept the puck home from close range to open the scoring.
Scott Pitt had Braehead’s best chance of the opening period when he spun past Hart, but found Stars goalie Joe Fallon was equal to it.
But Marc LeFebvre’s men doubled their lead when Vinny Scarsella’s low effort had the beating of Gary Russell in Braehead’s goal.
Then Justin Faryna added to the Clan fans’ misery when he got the tip on Felix-Antoine Poulin’s shot from the blue line and Dundee moved into a 3-0 lead.
Matt Haywood pulled one back early in the second as the home side tried to claw their way back into the game.
But Faryna’s second of the night on a powerplay saw the Stars restore their three-goal advantage after he was set up by Scarsella.
Michal Zajkowski returned to action to take over from Russell as he came back after six weeks out through injury.
Cale Tanaka took advantage to make it 5-1, but a Matt Beca double reduced the deficit to two with just under four minutes to play.
Scarsella secured Dundee’s points with an empty net goal and although Alex Leavitt scored in the last second, the victory was more than secured by then.
