The Braehead Clan made it three unbeaten as they hung on to take victory in a 3-2 win over Edinburgh Capitals.
Clan got the ideal start when Matt Beca’s delivery from the right was met one-handed by Scott Pitt, who got enough on it to turn it beyond Caps goalie Travis Fullerton.
Pitt added a second when his shot from the centre of the Capitals D-zone fizzed into the net to double the lead.
Then Matt Keith turned one in backhanded while on the turn as the home side surged into a three-goal lead inside five minutes.
Clan got a let off as Rihard Grigors shot seemed to go through home goalie Michal Zajkowski, but the whistle had blown before it crossed the line, so didn’t count.
Jacob Johnston was denied by a top class save by Zajkowski, who gloved it out of nowhere when it seemed destined to hit the net.
But Edinburgh’s captain finally got his goal when he struck from inside the Clan zone to pull one back for the visitors.
They pulled another back in the second when Garrett Milan forced a shot past the home goalie and Edinburgh got themselves to within a goal.
But despite trying to force another one, Clan stood well defensively and were denied by Fullerton at times.
However victory was eventually confirmed soon after.
