4 - 7
Coventry Blaze

Braehead Clan suffered further disappointment at home as Coventry Blaze took the points with a 7-4 victory at Braehead Arena.

Coventry had the better of the first period in terms of chances when TJ Syner tucked away the opening goal from Matt Marquardt’s assist.

Then Robin Bergman doubled the lead with a one-time effort as the Blaze went in after one period with a two-goal lead.

Matt Beca pulled one back with a one-time effort on the powerplay to claw Braehead back, but Coventry soon restored their two-goal advantage.

Josh Godfrey blasted one from the blue line that flashed past Michal Zajkowski, but Alex Leavitt got himself on the scoresheet to cut the away lead to 3-2.

Coventry again restored the two-goal gulf when Liam Stewart scored an excellent solo goal shorthanded, sending the puck into the top corner of Zajkowski’s net.

Another powerplay goal, this time from Kyle Wharton reduced the deficit to one as the game went into the third period.

Braehead were undone by another Stewart shorthanded goal in the third period as once again, the arrears were increased to two.

But TJ Syner’s finish made it 6-3, making Braehead’s task all the more harder in the closing stages.

Corey Cowick found the net with a well struck shot, but Barry Almeida’s empty net goal sealed what turned into another disappointing night for the home team.
