4 - 3
Fife Flyers

Braehead Clan resisted late Fife Flyers pressure to take the two points in a 4-3 win to make it five in a row over the Kirkcaldy side.

Clan got the breakthrough in the sixth minute when a shot from Bari McKenzie was fumbled by Flyers goalie Shane Owen before landing behind the line.

Scott Pitt was denied by Owen with a chance after drifting in from the wide left position before Craig Peacock saw his effort gloved by the Fife goalie.

The home team doubled their lead in the second when a powerful Scott Aarssen drive flew past Owen as the fans delighted in the goal.

But Fife’s goalie kept the score with a string of excellent saves, Jay Rosehill, Mike Hammond and Matt Keith in the second period.

Fife pulled one back through Brendan Brooks before Carlo Finucci forced home a close range puck to tie the game against the run of play.

Parity lasted 13 seconds when Alex Leavitt found himself through on Owen and was coolness personified to restore the home lead.

Then Matt Keith combined with Jay Rosehill and Leavitt to add a fourth and at this point, the game looked beyond the Flyers.

Cody Carlsson’s late penalty gave Fife hope as Matt Sisca scored a third to set up a grandstand finish, but Ryan Finnerty’s men held out to claim the points.
