Braehead Clan made it three wins out of four as they got over Boxing Day disappointment with a 7-2 victory over Edinburgh Capitals in Murrayfield.
It was a quick turnover after the 5-1 defeat to Belfast Giants, but it was the Caps who drew first blood with an early goal from Matt Tipoff.
Callum Boyd levelled for Braehead against his former team before Mike Hammond put the visitors in front by the end of the first period.
Scott Pitt scored twice during the second session as Ryan Finnerty’s men increased their lead, looking more comfortable as the game wore on.
A Matt Beca penalty shot effectively sealed the points, putting the Clan 5-1 ahead as the game moved into the third period.
However the Caps pulled it back with a goal from Michal Dobron to cut the deficit to three again, but they couldn’t make any more headway into Clan’s lead.
Boyd missed a penalty shot, but the Glasgow men that finished with a flurry as Matt Keith added a sixth to the scoreline late on.
Then Daniel Åhsberg got in on the act with a seventh to make it a successful night on the road for Braehead, who now continue their busy week with a home game against Dundee Stars on Thursday.
