Fife Flyers
1 - 4

Glasgow’s Braehead Clan started 2017 in the best possible way - with their sixth straight victory over deadly rivals Fife Flyers.

Clan took two more points in the Gardiner Conference game tonight in Kirkcaldy to go ten points clear of Manchester Storm as they won their eighth straight Conference match.

Mike Hammond was first to find the net in the first period as the Clan got a foothold on the game in the early part.

Fife responded with an equaliser from Justin Fox, who sent the puck home inside the final minute of the opening period after an assist from former Clan forward Brendan Brooks.

The visitors retook the lead just after the halfway mark as Matt Beca scored with a rebound and it seemed to turn the game in Braehead’s favour.

Captain Matt Keith opened a two-goal lead with an excellently converted backhand finish after dragging the puck around two Fife D-men to take it 3-1.

Then Scott Pitt finished things off with an empty net finish with 30 seconds to go as the Flyers pulled netminder Shane Owen in an attempt to get something.
