Glasgow’s Braehead Clan pegged Manchester Storm back twice in an entertaining game – but ended on the losing side in a 5-2 defeat.

Former Clan coach Ryan Finnerty was back in Glasgow with his current team and put sentiment aside as his team came out on top.

A fast-paced first period couldn’t yield any goals as both teams created chances, but failed to breach either net.

The best chance of the first came when Storm defenceman Ryan Trenz tried a one-timer on the blue line that hit the post to the right of Ryan Nie’s goal.

The visitors opened the scoring in the second period when a scramble in front of the home net saw Chris Auger get the final touch to get it over the line.

Braehead drew level as they took advantage of a five-on-three powerplay, as Landon Oslanski let one rip to blast his shot past Storm netminder Mike Clemente.

Manchester were back in front with a goal made in Braehead as former players Scott Pitt and Matt Beca combined for the latter to apply the finish.

But John Tripp’s side brought them level again as Cameron Burt took on a Mike Embach pass to send a well-struck effort into the net.

Storm kicked on in the third as Dallas Ehrhradt struck shorthanded to give them the go-ahead goal.

Then a chance from Luke Moffatt was turned in from close range by Dane Byers to open up a two-goal advantage.

Moffatt finally got his goal late on to complete victory and end the night on a disappointing note for the Clan.
