Former Braehead Clan forward Robert Farmer joked that his goal to secure Great Britain promotion to the top flight of World Championship ice hockey was a "rubbish goal".

Farmer's strike 15 seconds from the end of regulation time against Hungary secured GB the point they needed to make a first return to the elite level since 1994.

GB had trailed 2-0 but Robert Dowd closed the gap with 10 minutes remaining, Ben Bowns saved a penalty shot and Farmer equalised with a low shot which slid under Hungary netminder Adam Vay.

It ensured the game ended 2-2 at the end of regulation time and to put the icing on the cake, GB won the game on penalty shots.

Asked what he remembered about the goal, Farmer said: "It was rubbish but I just don't care.

"I cannot put into words what I am feeling right now. It is so hard to sum it up.

"We are now going to play the best teams in the world next year and that is so amazing.

"We never doubted ourselves and we dug deep to get the most breathtaking victory of my career."
